The Recreation Centers of Sun City West advises residents and visitors about an upcoming construction project they should be aware of at the R.H. Johnson Recreation Center, 19803 R.H. Johnson Blvd.

The decomposed granite walkways in front of the Social Hall, R.H. Johnson Administration building, Lecture Hall and Sports Pavilion will be converted to concrete beginning Feb. 11. The project will be done in sections so that access to these facilities is always available.

The reason for this project being undertaken is due to multiple member complaints about it being a difficult walking surface. In addition, residents have reported small pebbles are being tracked into our facilities, particularly at the Sports Pavilion where the bowling lanes can be damaged.

After initial reports were received last year, the Governing Board recommended the Association budget for replacement in the current fiscal year in case the issue continued to draw complaints, which it has.

Residents and visitors are warned not to cross the caution tape barriers, and to avoid these areas altogether during construction if possible.
