$10

THE IMPACT of the IRISH IN AMERICA,  3-5pm, Thursday, March 14, RH Johnson Lecture Hall; $10 fee.

The Ulster Irish (sometimes called the Scots-Irish) came to America in the early 1700’s. Where did they settle and why? What significant role did they play in the Revolutionary War and afterward? In the 1840’s there was another huge immigration of Irish to America. Why did they come? How different where they from the Ulster Irish? What role did religion play in this? Where did this later migration of Irish settle? What did they eventually do? What specific contributions did this later migration make to the growth and the economy of the United States?

Instructor Bob McIlhenny has been an educator since 1967 and received an Award of excellence from the U. of Cal three times and Most Inspirational Teacher Award from LA County. He is known as “Bob the history guy” and presents programs on a wide variety of topics with a unique perspective, energy and humor.
