COOKING WITH DESERT PLANTS, 10am-1pm, Monday, March 11, Palm Ridge Recreation Center, Acacia Room; $35 fee.
You will learn which desert plants are edible, how to harvest them and how they can be used to make delicious, nutritional meals. This class includes cooking how-to’s and enjoying a delicious lunch prepared with desert plants.
Instructors Bernadine McCollum and Barbara Kono, Bernadine McCollum has been the Conservation Coordinator at The Nature Conservancy’s Hassayampa River Preserve for 12 years. She has been harvesting and cooking with desert plants for many years. Barb Kono is business manager and editor of KC Publications and has developed many tasty recipes using desert plants. They are co-owners of Mmmesquite, a source for Sonoran Desert products.
