CIVIL WAR HISTORY, Myths and Ironies Surrounding the War, 3:00-5:00pm, Tuesday, December 4, RH Johnson Lecture Hall.

This presentation will examine several key elements of the Civil War, including what most historians claim was the real reason for the conflict, why it was so bloody, how did the Union finally win (given that the Confederacy was better equipped) , which battles were most significant, was President Lincoln truly the great emancipator and what happened in the north and south during reconstruction. Portions of the movie Gettysburg will be shown during the class.

Instructor Bob McIlhenny has been an educator since 1967 and received an Award of excellence from the U. of Cal three times and Most Inspirational Teacher Award from LA County. He is known as “Bob the history guy” and presents programs on a wide variety of topics with a unique perspective, energy and humor.
