Join us Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in the Social Hall- West for a discussion with author and historian Jeffrey Geiger about his book, “German Prisoners of War at Camp Cooke, California.” The book comes on the 75th anniversary of the Allied victory in North Africa in May 1943, when the first massive wave of German prisoners arrived in America. His talk will touch on Arizona’s experience. Papago Park and Florence were the two main camps, but there were several others throughout the state.
Geiger is the author of “Camp Cooke and Vandenberg Air Force Base, 1941-1966” and has published articles on historical topics in several magazines and newspapers. This book talk is free and open to everyone. Doors will open at 1:00 p.m. and copies of his book will be available for purchase at the program.
