Did you know that the Recreation Centers of Sun City West is at it again? Yes, that’s right. This July, we will be vying for our fourth win out of the last five years in the “best program for active adults” in the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association’s annual conference and awards banquet. We compete with dozens of cities and communities across Arizona.
APRA holds its conference every year, offering training for those who want to increase their knowledge in the recreation field. The conference is a two-day event covering many activities, and hosts representatives from all over the state. The Recreation Centers of Sun City West has been a member for several years and participates in the conference.
Each year, our community is asked to help in the conference by supplying volunteers to help coordinate some 6,000 attendees. Governing Board President Peggy Robbins and I have been asked again this year to help coordinate some 20 volunteers to help in the conference.
I need your help here. Yes, I’m looking for your help. Dates we need to participate are July 24 and 25. Because the conference is in Scottsdale this year, the Recreation Centers will be offering transportation (which we’re working to arrange now) and meals for those of you willing to step up. Your help will show APRA that we care and are serious about our role in the field of recreation.
